Eej Khairkhan Mountain is located in Gobi-Altai Province and reaches an elevation of 2,275 meters. The mountain is known for its unusual rock formations and distinctive natural features, including nine stone basins edged with green mineral deposits that follow natural grooves along its southeastern slope.
The mountain is closely tied to local beliefs and traditions. Many people believe that praying at Embuu Rock brings prosperity for nine generations. Passing through the rock formation known as Mother’s Womb is said to feel like a new beginning, while at Pigeon Rock, people without children have long come to pray in the hope of building a large and happy family. Eej Khairkhan Mountain is protected as a state natural monument, designated in 1992 and added to Mongolia’s national protected areas network in 1995.
