Location:
Khyargas Lake is the lowest-elevation lake in Mongolia’s lake system and is saline in nature. At its deepest point, the lake reaches about 80 meters (262 feet). On the eastern shore stands Khetsuu Khad, a long rock formation that continues beneath the water for roughly 5–7 km and rises about 20 meters above the surface. The blue color of the lake contrasts clearly with the white rock. Parts of the exposed rock are used by migratory birds as nesting sites during the breeding season.
